Hit The Books - Auction Item Research Challenge!

Every item won at a storage unit auction has a life all its own and a distinct story. In many instances, it can seem amazing that these items were abandoned in storage units due to their value and rich history.  Even items that are seemingly less impressive can often hold surprising value when the right buyer is found. For this reason, the importance of researching items before selling them cannot be overlooked! The research process can be time consuming and seem unnecessary, but in the end, it makes you a better buyer and seller, making your storage auction resale business sustainable and profitable.

Last week, we went back to school with Storage Auctions 101. As the new school year starts, we’re encouraging our subscribers to hit the “books” as well!

Over the next month, we want you to get your items appraised and researched. Send us all the information you find, along with a picture of the image. We’ll post the items to Cutting the Padlock, the Storage Unit Auction List blog, and we’ll let our Facebook fans vote on their favorite items! All submissions are due by September 2oth! To submit your item to the contest, email teresa.t@storageunitauctionlist.com.

We’ll pick one winner to receive a SUAL Swag Bundle. The bundle will include a Storage Unit Auction List T-shirt, Coffee Mug, and a flashlight. (You can never have too many flashlights as an auction hunter!)

1. Your full name and phone number (we won’t share your number with anyone; it will only be used to contact the winners).

2. All the findings of your research.

1. Only one entry per person, so make sure you send us a great photo of your item and as much information as possible.

2. We will not accept photos that contain or imply anything that is offensive, vulgar, or in any way explicit. Keep it family friendly!

3. Entries must be emailed and must contain the aforementioned information from "HOW TO ENTER".

4. The submitted photo must belong to you. Photos that do not belong to you or were taken from another source will be disqualified.

Voters will choose their favorite item by “liking” it on Facebook. The photos with the most likes will be declared the winner.
